All participants in adult kayaking courses must be over 18, be good swimmers.

You must be a member of the Wargrave Boating Club for the 2023 season to participate in any Kayaking course.  Participants must have their own well-fitting buoyancy aid and have a pair of soft shoes suitable for getting wet. We advise warm clothing and a windproof jacket, as it gets very cold, even in the summer when the sun goes down, especially when you are wet. Please bring a towel and a change of clothes. You can wear a wetsuit, but not long sleeved.

The Canoe/Kayak Section is all about having fun on the river while learning to use the river safely.

We have a large selection of Kayaks, Open Canoes, Sit Ons, Paddleboards and even Coracles!  The children love the ‘Sit Ons’ and are  happy “messing about on the river” even when it is cold!  When using any of these boats, you must wear a Buoyancy Aid or Life Jacket and shoes.

We run  6/7 week Training Courses for  Adults and Children in the summer.

We have British Canoe Union Qualified coaches to assist you, keep you safe and have fun.

Wednesday night is ‘Club Night’ for any qualified kayaker/canoeist to go out on a trip.  There must be a group of three or more approved adults.

When the Club is open at the weekends and school holidays, everyone is free to use the Open Canoes and Sit Ons, as long as they have a well fitting Buoyancy Aid or Lifejacket, Sign Out with the Duty Member and keep away from the Weirs, Locks and other boats.

The remaining boats: Kayaks, Racing Canoes, Paddleboards and Coracles are only available when you have reached a certain level of Training as per Wargrave Boating Club Rules and Guidance.

Keep Safe, Have Fun and Enjoy the Thames.   We are so lucky to have such a beautiful ‘playground’ come and join us!
